Health and Safety

The health and well-being of the HBCU C2 Community are of utmost importance to us. We have implemented various measures to ensure a safe and comfortable showcase experience. This health and safety information outlines our policies on masking, vaccine, and testing recommendations, hygiene, ventilation, meals and events, reporting, and illness. We encourage all attendees to take these guidelines seriously and help us create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

Masking, Vaccine and Testing recommendations:
The HBCU C2 Showcase encourages anyone who wishes to wear a mask indoors to continue to do so.

The showcase will follow in accordance with HBCU C2’s recommendations on masking, vaccine, and testing requirements. Read more at Tennessee State’s Coronavirus Information website.

Remember that discrimination based on mask-wearing violates the HBCU CCode of Conduct by creating a hostile and exclusionary environment that goes against the principles of equity, inclusivity, and respect for individual choices and beliefs.

Hygiene:
Attendees are encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands frequently. Hand sanitization stations are provided in various locations at the Grand Hyatt Downtown, Holiday Inn Express Conference Center, Hampton Inn & Suites Capitol View, and TSU Avon Williams Downtown Campus. Gloves are available to use while going through the buffet. The Holiday Inn Express Downtown Conference Center and Hampton Inn & Suites Capitol View housekeeping crews also sanitize public spaces nightly and guest spaces after departures.

Ventilation:
All locations uses Merv8 filters in the HVAC system, which helps to capture and filter out airborne particles.

Each event space will be checked frequently throughout the day to ensure the HVAC system is operating and providing adequate ventilation.

We also encourage attendees to take advantage of the outdoor seating areas during breaks and meals to get fresh air.

Meals and Events:
In addition to our indoor banquet seating, outdoor seating is available for meals and breaks.

Disposable containers and flatware maybe provided for those who eat outside.

Reporting:
The HBCU C2 Showcase maintains a list of attendees and event guests for contact tracing if necessary.

We request that attendees notify us at info@hbcuc2.org if they test positive during the event or within ten days of the post event.

Illness:
If an attendee feels unwell, we ask them to refrain from attending the event.
